President Barack Obama on Sunday linked Fox News, which he suggested was a "Republican news channel," to the success of Donald Trump as a presidential candidate.
During an interview on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked the president if he felt responsible for the angry voters supporting GOP hopeful Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders.
"There's no doubt that I feel frustrated about it," the president said. "Number one, we're still shell shocked from what happened in 2007-2008... People lost homes, lost jobs, lost life savings and they still don't fully know how that happened and was the system fixed in a way they can have confidence in."
Wallace wondered why Obama had not "fixed that in eight years."
"The perception is going to be changing over time as people see results," Obama replied. "But -- and this is the big but -- nobody is going to be 100 percent satisfied in a democracy like ours with every outcome."
"And I think the danger both among Republicans and among Democrats who just listen to each other or they just listen to people that already agree with them -- you know, Republicans have their own TV station," he noted.

(17,301 posts)The banks still own over 700,000 foreclosed homes. Most people went from good paying jobs to minimum wage jobs. Yet Wall Street, the banks, corportions and foreign countries were all bailed out. The rest of us had to suffer through capitalism.
Yea when are we going to fix this?

(15,369 posts)with the OP??
Why don't you start an OP for yourself on these topics? They are arguably worthy ones. But rather than simply rant, why don't you look at what actually has been done to mitigate these situations so far and propose some solutions that might continue to help them.
Or was this all simply another excuse to trash Prez O for not immediately turning around the incredibly awful situations he inherited in 2008?

(15,369 posts)but it still seems to me that the responder was criticizing Prez O for that - rather than Faux Noise - when the clear intent of the OP was to point out the active role that Faux has played in creating the GOP of today.
Prez O was a Senator when the 2008 crisis occurred. He has worked tirelessly to remedy abuses and mitigate consequences of that crisis since even before he entered office and has been adamantly and constantly obstructed by the GOP at every point. So why the responder focused only on that part of the OP has left me mystified.

(26,624 posts)it got to me. Did it get to the haters? Doubtful. And, speaking of the economy, I saw a sign outside a Walmart in Denver: Starting pay, $10.20/hour, $12 for nights. The free market at work, conservatives will say, and in a sense, they're right, but workers are just pawns in the game. Unions are the only good answer. Oh, and of course, raise the goddam minimum wage now!
