Did a priority bird pair leave home 1,000 miles away because of the drought and come to our yard?

Be sure to see the audubonaction below the Black-headed Grosbeak photos!

We have reason to believe we have a PAIR of Tricolored Blackbirds. They belong in California. The next step it to get photos! We have a marsh (habitat they like) in sight from our house. There is also a non-agricultural field there for them too.

We have many red winged blackbirds here, and we think this pair is not the same.

We have alerted the bird network in our area.

IF this turns out to be the case, it is huge news. Much larger that when we had a Black-headed Grosbeak 3 years ago: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022855346
The photos of it are offline apparently. Here they are again.

Marta noticed one first. The nationally common red wings we are used to seeing. The third color is yellow, not white.

The tri colored is a very slight difference. So photos will be needed as proof. Here is the endangered news: http://www.audubon.org/news/tricolored-blackbird-may-be-listed-endangered-california

I have noticed plants up here blooming way earlier than before, and there are report of animals changing their migration. I wonder how much the oceans have to raise to fill back in death valley. I guess we will see more and more of this. Also could global warming cut off species that usually cross the equator during migration routes?

I've lived in CA all my 52 years and have never seen one. Wonder what part of the state they favor?

That's got my area covered. I'll keep an eye out for them. I am seeing birds recently that I've never seen before. Saw what looked like a Goldfinch the other day. Had a flock of Waxwings this winter too.

I needed a good laugh. Marta was with a doctor this afternoon for tests.

I took her to our favorite oriental place for dinner. I already felt bad with a cold. Halfway through dinner I started to have a severe tooth ache. The waitress came running over and thought I was choking.

My place was closed for the day. Went to a late hours place. I thought it was the tooth that just got a crown about a month ago. Nope. Tooth behind it has a micro crack. I can't get a temp crown until Wednesday. I'm on the good pain meds till then.
