Charlottesville City Council Holds Public Hearing on Lee Park Statue (VA)

Charlottesville City Council hosted a public hearing Monday night and heard from people on both sides of the debate. About 40 people signed up to share their thoughts ...

Councilors talked about next steps which include a Blue Ribbon Commission to look at how the city should honor race and our history. That could include removing Confederate statues, adding more context to them, or building additional memorials nearby.

Councilors are discussing scheduling a work session to go over details of that commission. Then they'd likely vote on actually creating the commission at their May 1 meeting.
