Warning: includes graphic violence...
After a man was repeatedly called the n-word on a Chicago train, he exploded and beat up the instigator.
(I know it's the New York Post, but they did a good job of stitching together in sequence the short videos that were tweeted)

The man, according to @raresoulx, was berated with racist language by the unidentified drunk man for 15 minutes. Having understandably endured more than he could take, the man eventually responded by beating up the alleged racist before returning to his seat for a peaceful train ride:

The young piece of crap who was calling names got what he deserved. The older man who gave it to him did not serious damage except to the young guy's ego. Being left on the platform soaked in his own urine cannot be a good way to end the day!
Thanks old guy!!

My grandfather would accept even fewer.
That guy was truly lucky. It could have been much worse.

(2,931 posts)As a white guy, I will say that idiot asked for it and got it. The black guy didn't take it to an extreme, just gave him some bruising and then let it go... well done on his part

(885 posts)And based on the video, he got ejected at just the right stop (Redline stop SOX-35th - US Cellular field)
As a former Chicagoan I can confirm if he was headed south on that train, he likely would not have gotten off so easy after that stop.
Hopefully, he learned a valuable lesson - People will only put up with so much.
With any luck, he'll carry that lesson with him during future encounters.

Everyone makes that same argument for things they agree with. For things people don't agree with, it's nothing but condemnation. I'm not saying that's good or bad, it just is. As humans we justify or rationalize what we agree with. Always have, always will.
Might, in one form or another, has always made right throughout human history. Depending on your particular perspective at any given time, you're either cool with that, or rage against it.

You seem to be unaware that a visceral, emotional and non-consequential reaction to a particular scenario is not necessarily indicative of the ability of studied, academic and rational thought when called for.
A written display of the id lacking any real consequence is a wholly separate concept than that of the super-ego actually acting on input, regardless of whether you're cool with that or not.

I'm not one to condone violence, but...
I'm saying anyone can justify anything if they agree with it, whatever the id, super-ego, or consequences may be, whether they're written, real, or non-existent. Again, I'm not saying it's good or bad, I'm saying it's human. We can get angry. We can get violent. We all see the world as we see it.

(10,201 posts)Remember, only the Sith deal in absolutes.
You are conflating justify with condone.
The word condone does not mean to justify. To condone something, is to forgive something even though it is considered wrong. To justify something is to prove it right or reasonable.
What this man did was neither right or reasonable, in fact what he did, I would consider quite wrong. However I can condone his actions based on the circumstances.
