http://www.twcnews.com/nc/triad/news/2016/04/19/greensboro-tourism-leaders--city-has-lost--6-million-in-revenue-because-of-hb2-fallout-.htmlBetween Bruce Springsteen, Cirque du Soleil and Boston canceling their shows, the coliseum lost nearly $200,000 in revenue....
"Our preliminary numbers, we're probably up to the $6 million in business loss, just here in Greensboro, Fourrier said. If you talk to the hotels in the community, that number is going to be a lot higher."
"Our mayor is president of a gay rights organization. That speaks volumes as to who we are and who we want to be, but unfortunately, we're being labeled under the state as a whole, Fourrier said. We have the moniker on our state that we're biggots (sic)and that's so not North Carolina."

(1,587 posts)The tax base will be even worse off than before. But, hey, McCrory can smirk about Paypal still taking money from residents. Yeah, that's funny, asshole. Really funny. I bet you get a tickle just thinking about people trying for unemployment and food stamps. Maybe they can lose their homes and move into shelters. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

(82,849 posts)Went into the comments (never read the comments), and there was no shortage of folks - many purportedly from North Carolina - who were downright happy about all the convention/concert/event business that wasn't coming to North Carolina. The big ticket concerts were no big loss, nobody wanted to see that liberal Bruce Springsteen anyway. And so on and so forth. It's still very early since the enactment of HB2, but as the cancellations pile up, and business steals away to Virginia and Tennessee and South Carolina (from which places it might just decide not to come back), you can bet we'll be hearing the howls.
