Is it time to boycott NPR?

Because it seems every time I tune in, they're covering the GOP in general and Drumpf in particular.
They only mention Bernie or Hillary like an "also ran" footnote.

Has the Koch money corrupted them so completely?

I don't have the option to listen all day, so it's possible I'm missing any coverage of the Democratic race.

But every time I have NPR on the dial, it's all trump, all the time.

Not since the Bush years when he had the top execs replaced because NPR was questioning his war hard-on. They've swung farther and farther to the right ever since. And then there is the Koch Bros. Buy-in, and the barrage of corporate commercials. Everything I don't want in so-called public broadcasting.

That said, when I do listen to broadcast FM in my car, it is usually the local college station. They're affiliated with NPR, and run five minutes of headlines on the hour, with none of the commercials. At 4pm they switch to NPR's afternoon drive-time stuff and that's when I switch to internet radio over my phone.

NPR president and CEO Vivian Schiller resigned Wednesday (2011) under pressure, a day after an undercover video showed one of her executives on a hidden camera calling the tea party racist and saying the news organization would be better off without taxpayer money.

The shake-up comes at a critical time. Conservative politicians are again pressing to end congressional funding for NPR, money the organization said it needs to keep operating public radio and television stations in some of the nation's smallest communities. The White House defended the funding, saying there remains a need for public broadcasting.

Vivian Schiller also faced criticism for her firing of analyst Juan Williams over comments he made about Muslims....

I got sick of them bending over backwards to be "balanced."
Sorry, sometimes conservative and corporatist BS needs to be called out.

Giving climate-change deniers an equal platform when the vast majority of scientists were saying for years that there is no doubt that human activities are changing the planet is the worst kind of abdication of journalistic responsibility.

It's the best on terrestrial radio, but it sucks.

As for the best coverage, there isn't hardly a day that I don't have to shut it off and explain to my wife why that last story wasn't quite true.

The things that drive me crazy are 1) when they leave out vital pieces of information that really make a difference in the story and 2) when they bring on an "expert" but fail to explain that the expert is a from a far right wing think tank funded by the Kochs etc. That used to be a daily occurrence.

As the RW pressure went up on them my listening time has fallen drastically. From having it on all day in the '70s to morning and night news in the 90s to about 15 minutes a day today.

Think they would be much better off without Innskeep also.

Otoh, our extremely conservative neighbors were shocked to find my kitchen radio was tuned to 3 different NPR stations, I think international news, Culver City or Pasadena, California and Atlanta at that time. They're nice, traditional conservatives, though, and still friends in spite of yet more evidence of how "radical left" we are.

I worry about influence from the Kochs every time I think of NPR these days, but NPR news is still "liberal" in that it presents a broader range of truthful facts and ideas than other stations. (Jane Austen's "liberality of ideas.&quot

Liberals want openness and liberality of ideas.

Conservatives tend not to be comfortable with "new" or "different" ideas, less liberality please.

And both left radicals and right reactionaries refuse to admit that there could be any truth but their truth. Of course. Should have figured NPR has been under the bus all along.

They are a true news organization. They have both sides on but tend not to favor one over the other. There are some on the left who expect them to be the Fox of the left, but that is not their role. They do a great job of letting right wing assholes look like assholes.

I think it is telling they have repeatedly asked Trump to be interviewed and he has refused.
