All three cable networks are now on NON-STOP PRINCE Death coverage.
All the while they are distracting the majority of the SLEEPING Americans from the real tragedy.
While you are distracted. Congress is likely making it harder for you to stay in the middle class. Wall ST is scamming money out of your 401K plan. Your employer is fixing the books to prevent them from giving you a pay raise. And maybe the next illegal war is being planed.
Prince was a talented artist, not enough for all afternoon coverage. Merle Haggard did not get this kind of coverage and he had equal if not more talent.
I guess the newsroom wanted a mid day week off of work, no work needed to cover this.
THATS ALL

(39,961 posts)and you don't to be a jerk on the day of the man's death.
He's going to be missed by A LOT of people, and reducing it and ridiculing him on the day of his death is crass.

(33,345 posts)Culture is important. It binds a diverse nation together. Let memories of Prince have today.
The slow-motion apocalypse that is American Politics isn't going anywhere. It refuses to die.
And leave Merle out of it. He lived a long life, 23 years longer than Prince Rogers Nelson - big difference. Don't make people choose.

(3,580 posts)But I saw the prince show in Paterson in 82 and years later it is still the most electrifying exciting show I've ever seen. Prince was an innovator and a genius.

(129,062 posts)beyond his music. One of his most recent songs referenced Freddie Gray and Michael Brown. He was one of the rare ones who could play multiple instruments as well. He also mentored a number of performers and maintained his own studio to cultivate musicians.
He was basically up there with and a contemporary of Michael Jackson.
But we know, as Joe Madison says daily on his SiriusXM show -
and this post is a example of that.

(31,234 posts)own minds about the deliberate poke in the eye to people of color. It's a thoughtless o.p., but wanted it to stand so others know exactly who we're dealing with.

Please go down to your basement and respond to my post.

(31,234 posts)The Merle Haggard reference was thrown in for a reason, and I'll let others come to their own conclusions about the o.p.'s intent.

(9,350 posts)First, most Americans already know the things that you mentioned are happening. In addition, there will be other days to discuss those issues. Second, Prince was a far bigger, and far more influential musician than Merle Haggard. Yes, Haggard was a very good Country singer-songwriter and may have, or likely influenced a number of modern Country musicians. However, I am pretty certain Prince influenced many more artists. Prince mentored many individuals in and outside of music. Finally, Prince was far more talented than Merle Haggard. Watch almost any Prince performance and you will see his talent. You definitely need to watch Prince's 2004 Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame performance. He just killed the guitar solo.
