scenario, but also feel that the Hyde-Trump will have burned too many bridges (Latinos, women, etc.) to winh.

I don't think Dr. Jekyll-Trump will be able to erase the past. At least I hope not.

Then he has alienated so many establishment Republicans who may endorse him tepidly but will not encourage others to vote for him.

they'll be thrilled if he wins. if he gets in, he'll nominate right-wingers, he'll cut taxes, he'll cut red tape, and he'll hate on the usual targets.

the *only* reason for the hand-wringing is because they're worried he'll lose and tarnish the republican "brand", giving them a bad name for not respecting the fine line they always dance around at the edge of bigotry.

but in the general, do we really think they'll stay home and let the democrat win? do we really think they'll actually vote for the democrat??

no, republicans have a long, long history of turning out no matter what. they might hold their noses, but they'll vote for the republican every time.

Two of the most important identifiable traits of the right-wing authoritarian are that they are tolerant of hypocrisy if it benefits themselves, and they vote religiously. RWAs make up about one-half of all Republicans and the rest of them need only a healthy dose of fear and instability to line up behind the rest.

You can probably guess how to create that fear and instability, so I need not say it. If that happens a Trump Presidency, and the end of the United States, will be nearly impossible to stop.

Of hypocrites and liars. Naturally they will unite against the common enemy.
