Likely we all agree this is a nice story: "Cheap Trick Turned Down the RNC’s $100,000 Offer"

Cheap Trick has high standards, I guess.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick are still very much a working band, but they won’t work for just anybody.

In a new interview with England’s Guardian, frontman Robin Zander said that “The Republican National Committee called our office and offered us $100,000 to play at their convention in Cleveland [this summer]. We turned it down. Then we had second thoughts. Maybe we should have accepted it – but we would all have got swastika guitars made.”
----------------------
Cheap Trick, of course, were just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — ironically, they were presented at the event by noted Republican Kid Rock.

In any case, the band have a lot of other paying gigs coming up: they’re co-headlining the Rock Hall Three for All tour with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Heart. That tour kicks off in July.

Joe Walsh canceled after learning that his concert was NOT for the Veterans but rather the convention.

Eagles' Joe Walsh cancels concert with GOP ties

(CNN) — For the Eagles' Joe Walsh, the show must not go on.

The musician pulled out of a concert scheduled for July 18 in Cleveland, Ohio, after he said he learned of the show's ties to the Republican National Convention.

"It was my understanding that I was playing a concert which was a nonpartisan event to benefit the families of American veterans on Monday, July 18 in Cleveland," Walsh said in a statement he released Wednesday. "Today it was announced that this event is, in fact, a launch for the Republican National Convention."

Walsh said he also discovered that his name would be used "to raise sponsorship dollars for convention-related purposes" and therefore he felt forced to withdraw from the event.

"I am very concerned about the rampant vitriol, fear-mongering and bullying coming from the current Republican campaigns," Walsh said. "It is both isolationist and spiteful. I cannot in good conscience endorse the Republican party in any way."

Says he will play a concert for Veterans at a later date.

That newspaper article only has excerpts from Mr. Walsh's statement. When you click through his whole statement is available and I thought that the most telling line in it was after he said that he thought he was playing for a veterans benefit. Specifically: "The admat I approved said this specifically...",

Did they lie to him hoping to rope him in? Monumentally stupid Republicans (wait is that an oxymoron?)
