Pat Boone: The Government Should Outlaw Blasphemy And Punish Saturday Night Live If It Blasphemes Again
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Friday, 4/22/2016 2:05 pm
Conservative musician and activist Pat Boone has been on the warpath against Saturday Night Live ever since the program aired a sketch parodying the right-wings persecution complex, criticizing the shows cast members as Satanic and bound for hell. In an interview last night with Alan Colmes, Boone said that there should be regulations that prohibit blasphemy and that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should punish networks that air such blasphemous programming. When Colmes asked if he would like the FCC to declare that a show like Saturday Night Live or any other show cant do that kind of humor, Boone agreed: You cannot do blasphemy, yes. Boone, insisting that at least 90 percent of the American public wants this kind of censorship, specifically said that SNL or any program that calls God by some profane name would be in violation of such a blasphemy restriction, and that those who commit the offense should lose their license.

(58,785 posts)God's retribution on his blog. Yup. He has one, but don't bother -- it's the typical egoist me, me, me, with a secondary religious theme, a tiny bit of politics, all projecting the image he wants. Being able to calm down and edit before uploading has it all over live TV.

In the late 1950s - early 1960s, I worked a few summers for a landscaping company to help pay for college. We worked 7 am - 6 pm - 6 days a week.
Six NIGHTS a week I played a jazz gig- 10-2 at the Seaway Idlewild Hotel near what was then Idlewild Airport- now JFK..
I mowed Pat Boone's lawn !!!

(2,650 posts)1975 our football team (Jackson Parkside) just played Ann Arbor Pioneer. So after road games they take us out to eat as usual. We ate at the Bill Knapp's in Ann Arbor and as 'luck' would have it the whole Pat Boone klan had stopped there too with their tour bus.
So long story short one of our assistant coaches asked him to speak to our team. He finally relented and told us a story iirc of overcoming obstacles to achieve our goals. Roger Staubach was the object (or would he be the subject?) of this morality play as I recall.
By the way this would have been in the twilight of Pat's career (going on some 50 years now). However it was just prior to Debbie Boone hitting it big with that godawful You Light Up My Life.

I highly doubt 90% of the people want SNL gone because it's been on now for how many years??? Someone must be watching it and liking it.
