Is Donald Trump a threat to America?

Perhaps some Americans have that thought buried deep in their subconscious somewhere?

Or is he just a threat to the American political system? Or is he not a threat to either?

I think the deep-seated fear and anxiety are real. People do not know what he might do as President. He is unpredictable when compared to political party norms.

It would be folly to assume Hillary could defeat him and that he has no chance to win the Presidency, in my opinion. Strange things can happen when stupid people vote. The chances are that they are not as enlightened as you.

Should trump win, he would go along to get along with the gop.

There would be a massive slashing of health, safety & environmental regulations. Maybe tense international relations. The treasury depleted for his pet wall projects & corporate welfare.

He may not be the slick, refined face of the gop party, but he is all about their wet dreams come true.

Whether trump, cruz or kasich... all the same outcome.

I was categorizing the poster's statement--that a President Hillary Clinton would somehow be worse than a President Donald Trump--as being idiotic. I certainly stand by that statement, because it is indeed a very idiotic thing to say.

I was not calling the poster him/herself an idiot. The poster could very well in fact be a very smart person. But even smart people are capable of saying dumb things from time to time, and what he/she said was incredibly dumb.

Of course, I'm supposedly on ignore now so you're probably not listening to me anyways.

I think you are responding to a backdoor trumpchump. I talked with one last sunday. He kept saying his candidate had his own money so he wouldn't be subject to corruption. I asked what about the wall? He shrugged. What about his comments on minorities, the mexicans as a statement on point. What about his comments and newspaper ads in the controversial 'Central Park Five' case of 25 years ago. A serial rapist confessed and DNA corraborated his confession. What about the racial violence directed toward men and women of color at his rallies? He said, "those people were agents of the left sent in to create problems". I said, "some didn't even say anything, just showed up while being black and were attacked". He shrugged his shoulders. I finally said, he's a racist fascist that bodes ill for this country. He smiled and walked away.

It's astounding someone can spend 5 years on DU and come up with such an ignorant, self-centered statement. Hillary Clinton is in the mainstream of the Democratic party, with policies close to Obama's. Trump is an egomaniac racist and misogynist who despises Mexicans, women, and poor people.

This shouldn't be about you signalling to Bernie supporters that you are the Bernie-est of them all. Just think. Think.

There is no way I'm saying that. You can look on DU - I say both Sanders and Clinton are far better than anything the Republicans have - especially Trump.

Yes, it's your view. It's shameful, and stupid, and ignorant. You are ignoring reality. I'm being generous by saying you're just doing it to show off your Bernie credentials. If you really mean it, you don't belong on DU at all.

How on earth can you honestly say anything Hillary Clinton has done is worse than that?

I get that she's not your favored candidate, fine, but that doesn't prevent you from pulling your head out of your ass when it comes to Donald Trump, a man whose rise in the polls can best be attributed to fascism.
