So my wife and I had a discussion about putting our choice for president on our car. I don't like the idea, not because I'm worried about somebody messing with the car, although these days that is a real possibility. I just don't like bumper stickers, I never have. If my wife had her way out car would probably be held together with bumper stickers , she has a great sense of humor and just find some funny or would like to show her support one way or another.
I also look at them as a social experiment. Ill look at bumper stickers and see how they are driving. 😀 My daughter has a small sticker on her rear window. It says, "Nobody cares about your bumper sticker family", and has a car mowing down a stick figure family.
So what is your opinion? Political? Humor? Causes? Etc.

(51,122 posts)I only allow one bumper sticker at a time on my car and it must be a vinyl sticker (easy to remove).

In this neighborhood, few people put up lawn signs either. The only thing in our neighborhood is the school, so the school and it's events are the only thing keeping us all together. I think most folks prefer to assume that we are all alike, even though we probably divide perfectly between Ds and Rs.

(57,527 posts)I'm not sure it really existed. Maybe it was just apocryphal. I have seen the "My kid can beat up your honor roll student." That's guaranteed to annoy someone, so it's also good.
So sue me.
Other than that, I'd rather not have one.

(16,399 posts)They peel paint on newer cars. I will get a magnet one if it's something cool, but they are so easy to steal I'd be pissed if I lost $10 bucks like that.
And no political stickers. Especially with Trump around. These people are fucking nuts.

We see a lot of college stickers around here.
My husband and I actually saw a Trump sticker the other day. Made us both want to puke.
Mostly it's Hillary or Bernie stickers in our oasis of blue in Chapel Hill.

(53,410 posts)Bumper stickers are a uniquely American thing. And they are really quite clever because they have to encompass a completed thought as well as a concept with as few words as possible. It really can be an artform.
I like to read other people's bumper stickers. Some of he funniest things I've read are on them.

(90,737 posts)... because the Camry's bumpers were made out of some matte black substance that wouldn't "stick." I got my Accord in time for Obama to run and had a nice collection of 8 Obama bumper stickers, including the classic one by Fairey indicating we had won.
But a year ago the entire back bumper and left rear door were taken out by a small steam roller, so now I have no bumper stickers. The insurance company said they normally wouldn't have repaired an almost 10 year old car, but it has low mileage so now it looks brand new.
I am contemplating moving to a more conservative town, so have not replaced any of them. (Yet.) However, just today I sent away for some Window Cling stickers.

(86,671 posts)consider "wearing" any, put them inside the rear window.
I don't like to advertise much. I did see a good one for my state recently that I would consider getting (I do have a small collection gathered over decades and sill unused) it said:
"Montana is FULL! I hear North Dakota is nice."
I'm looking to get one whether I put it in my window or not.

I might get that one since it is one of my most pronounced pet peeves.
I have had some political ones in the past (I had one in 2004 that was a "W" with the red circle and diagonal cross bar over it), but my area is really too red to take the risk now - especially with the vitriol that seems to drip from the pores on the other side these days.

(23,156 posts)just didn't want everyone who saw my car to know I was a Democrat. So even though I now live in New Mexico, and see lots of Bernie stickers here, I'm still not very likely to put one on my car. And it's a shame, too, because I do have a nice collection of Bernie stickers I've gotten from donating to his campaign.
However back during the Bush II era, I'd get bumper stickers made at Makestickers.com. I've forgotten most of them, but my personal favorite was He wasn't elected on 9/11 either.
I only once had someone react negatively to any of my stickers. I'd carry extras in the glove box, and if someone admired what I had, I'd offer to give them one of what I had. I believe people always took one.

(217 posts)... Political stickers really depends on area and how far you travel. I've lived in some red areas where I wouldn't want to deal with repercussions.
Bumper stickers in general I like simply so that I can find my mom van in a sea of similar looking mom vans.

(1,975 posts)I live in the mountains of Tn. It doesn't get more religious or conservative than around here. I would give it a week before my car would be vandalized. Especially with this election cycle. I literally have never seen anything like this election ever. It's kind of exciting because it's so electric, but scary at the same time.
