COMPUTER GUIDED VEHICLES MUCH SAFER THAN HUMAN GUIDED"
The latest statistics provided by the National Highway Safety Foundation show that computer guided surface vehicles have a much better safety rating than human guided vehicles (HGV). By orders of magnitude.
The number of traffic deaths that involved computer guided vehicles was miniscule and most of those involved HGV operators' poor judgement.
Long haul trucking companies are now dedicated to equipping all of their 18 wheelers with Computer Guided Operation (CGO).
Leslie Gilson, president of the Long Haul Trucking Association lobby, said "This will save our industry millions, not just in salaries for drivers, but also in reduced insurance premiums."
Carl Icahn, president of Amalgamated Airlines, said "We're taking a serious look at how Computer Guided Aircraft (CGA) could cut costs in our business model."

(54,256 posts)We're already doing it with fighter/bomber drones.
Cargo drones will be next.
No humans, just cargo.
Once those safety standards have been established (and they will be) troop transport with no warm bodies on the flight deck.
And so on and so forth.
At some point in the not really too distant future, you'll board an airliner with zero human crew on board.
Your seat will still be too small and you'll have no leg room.

(13,426 posts)If not, what impact will that have on our voting laws where many states require a photo ID to vote? Also if not, does that mean the elderly, the disabled and children can operate them?

(54,256 posts)The 'car' and operating system will be 'approved'?
Driver's licenses will go the way of the buggy whip.

(522 posts)Just an excuse to raise rates on humans. There is no way that a majority of cars will be equipped with the technology to be driverless in the next ten years.
And there are too many roads and bridges that need to be upgraded and properly maintained with lane marking.
I know they have come a long way with the technology but, we don't know how much these cars will cost. I'll be 73 and I doubt that I will be able to afford a new car then.
