And his "I don't want it" stance is the same game he played when approached to become Speaker.

Trump has riled up a major chunk of the republican electorate against the republican establishment.

If the republican establishment kicks out the anti-establishment-candidate and replaces him with an establishment-candidate at the last minute, why would Trumps voter's support the new guy?
The GOP would have to convince MORE THAN 50% of the GOP-voters to vote for their very own guy.

Imagine Bernie Sanders leading the democratic primary, only to be replaced with Hillary Clinton in a backroom-deal by the DNC.
In such a situation, how many Bernie-supporters would vote for Clinton?

The big wigs in the Republican party are already floating a strategy of running Ryan as a third party alternative on the ticket in only a few, select states. If he wins those states in the general, enough to keep either the Democrat nominee or the Republican nominee from getting a majority of the electoral votes, that throws the election to the House, and we have President Ryan.

Assholes. All of 'em!

we're screwed. The only one she can beat is Trump. Not with a safe margin like Bernie, but adequate. Anybody else? No way.

I agree about the rethug establishment, and since the MIC is generally in bed with them, that could be enough. But otherwise I'd think Trump would have MIC leaders fantasizing about their new vacation homes, with all the business a Trump presidency will bring them.

Trump also repeated his promise to rebuild the military.

"We're going to undeplete our depleted military...Nobody's gonna mess with us," Trump told the crowd of thousands in the university gym.

http://www.pennlive.com/news/2016/04/a_confident_trump_rallies_west.html

We have to rebuild our military, which is being decimated by bad decisions.

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/gop-primaries/277307-trump-takes-back-pledge-to-eliminate-national-debt

Once the military is 'rebuilt' the temptation for him to use it against countries that are not responding to his 'great negotiating' will be immense. Particularly when he his domestic proposals are tied up in an uncooperative congress. Being 'commander-in-chief' has its perks - unfortunately.

I expect he will never be President of the US because he is a right-wing demagogic racist/xenophobe, not because the MIC and republicans prevent it.

He may never be president, but he's the Rs best shot, imo.
