(11,330 posts)maybe they believe the US Constitution is safer if Texas is not part of the US anymore.
Based on some of the politician coming from that state...and some intrastate decisions like not wanting school children taught about critical thinking...the car owner might be right

(86,765 posts)a public hearing way back when about the roadless initiative and a bunch of former timber workers were there making a bunch of foolish comments and protesting. The one comment that really made me have to hold my breath so I wouldn't burst out laughing was, "so now I guess you're gonna tell us that the BLM (the gov't agency) has been taken over by the federal guvvamint!" And he was dead serious and really pissed. We lwho approved of the measure had to be escorted out with an armed guard.
This was in eastern Idaho.

(30,058 posts)the union after the War between the states, based on earlier agreement, the second one supersedes the prior agreement. I classify myself as a Texan, not part of this group, I also don't carry a weapon on my hip.

(35,341 posts)They were reinstated as near equals, with Reconstruction ending early. I mean, since the secession was deemed illegal, it never really happened. "Civil War" means "within one country." If we want to go the "war between the states," then it means that the South really was separate and the N. waged a war of conquest and annexed free territory. That would make the Notherners little more than imperialists, not defenders of the Union.
At this point, the restrictions are all by statute and case law and date to the 1960s and later, not the 1860s.
At least I think you're saying that the "limitations places" make the states unequal. I don't think there was an agreement in place on what the restrictions would be prior to the Civil War, though.
