I just realized Cruz picked Carly because he thinks she will help him win California.

She did win a Republican primary here in CA before she got her ass kicked by Barbara Boxer in the GE.
Cruz must think this is how can stop Drumpf.
It's the only explanation I can why he really picked her.

Maybe what's her name who ran for governor? She got creamed by Jerry Brown, and he didn't campaign very hard to do it.

Job description: Token female candidate. Remuneration negotiable. Reply confidentially.

Not many have the special qualifications for these jobs, and virtually none of those down and out enough to consider them.

He is a loser in my books well before he was elected Senator. When he bragged about being in the bag with Arpaio I knew he was not needed in the Senate.

He now has Carly to say anything and then say it not sexism (etc.,) and that because I am a woman.

What Cruz is doing is the textbook definition of playing the Woman card, OMO.

She did that very thing while she was still running for the nomination.

Our repukes apportion their delegates equally by CD, regardless of whether the district is full of repukes as in Orange County or Bakersfield, or solidly Dem as in the Bay Area or L.A. County. Cruz' people are looking to pick off the so-called "empty" (that is, Dem) districts.
