Trumps VP pick will be Susana Martinez of New Mexico

According to someone that leaked from inside the campaign.
This could be tough to overcome based on what little I know of her.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susana_Martinez

Anyone know more about her?

*Update* the vetting at OU is where the leak came from

The pick would seem hypocritical to me. If he is so opposed to illegal immigrants, how could he pick the granddaughter of illegal immigrants as his Vice President. If illegal immigrants were prevented from coming to America Susanna Martinez would not be here in order to run for any office. So, does he oppose illegal immigration or does he not oppose illegal immigration?

Maybe his supporters will continue to support him even if he picks Martinez thinking it is a trick to get Hispanics to vote for him. However, there is a chance that his supporters will feel betrayed.

Martinez was in the El Dorado Hotel in Santa Fe when police were called at 1:30am on December 13, 2015, concerning a noisy party. Governor Martinez was there with her family and staff. After police arrived, Governor Martinez repeatedly inquired about who made the complaint and told the police dispatcher that officers that were sent were not needed. But Martinez clearly showed signs of being drunk on the phone and in person to the Santa Fe Police. Nine days later, a recording was brought forward by the police department which featured Martinez stating she knew that there was a person in the hotel causing a disturbance, divergent somewhat from her official statement.

Party on, Susana!

Has he even reached out to her?

Why would this be "tough to overcome?" Women aren't "low information voters" (OOOOH LOOK, he picked a female, so that means it's "OK" to vote for him!!!) -- this individual is going to have to reconcile why she'd be willing to associate herself with a woman-mocking, offensive, disgusting PIG and ruin her OWN reputation. I can't see her making the sale. Just by accepting the gig, her judgment is called into question and her reputation permanently besmirched.

John McCain tried to "neutralize" the Incredible Blackness of Obama with the Gun Totin' Hot Mama-ness of Sarah Palin--that didn't work out too well, either.

There is so much wrong with her.

She accused 7 or 8 low income mental health providers with medicaid fraud. Their funding was revoked and their reputations were ruined. After an investigation by the AG, none of these providers were found to have committed fraud. She awarded the contracts for low income mental health care to one provider from AZ without soliciting any bids from anyone else.

She hasn't been as despicable as other Repuke Governors, so we're grateful for that.

I think that Gov. Krispy Kreme recommended her to Trump because for the last couple of years she followed him everywhere.

Petty. Vindictive. Weak on policy. And yet she's being hailed as the Republican Party's great new hope.

two-year old article with an update : The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that that FBI has been probing Gov. Martinez's "fundraising activities going back to her first run for governor." According to the paper, "One prominent New Mexico Republican, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed being interviewed in recent months by federal agents about funds from Martinez's campaign, as well as money from her 2011 inauguration committee, going to the governor's political consultant, Jay McCleskey."

and if not a puff piece, as Republicans go she is far from the worst. She's anti-pot and pro-life, but doesn't seem to be a wingnut about it.

But, she's obviously smart and tough, so why would she even think of hitching her rising star to the likes of Trump?

Like Joisey Fats-- term limited and no other jobs out there?

She will only the Vice Presidential candidate. Trump will still be the Presidential candidate claiming he wants to build a wall to keep the murdering, raping, and robbing Mexicans out of America. This has the ability to backfire. Some Hispanics may think he picked Martinez only to get their vote. That may cause them to continue to vote against him.

Will Martinez bring in enough women to allow him to beat the Democratic nominee? There is a chance that Trump will win the white female. In 2008, President Obama won the overall female vote, but he lost the white female vote. The question will be if Trump will be able to keep the white female vote and then get enough votes from minority women in order to win the election.

I'm a junkie on politics and vaguely remember her from 2012 and her speech.

She might appeal to enough voters who do not dig to deep because on the surface she seems sane. Objectively it would be a smart move or giggles she could be Palin II we will have to see how it plays out. She may decline the offer either way.

Personal note : I'm still taking medications that make it difficult at times to verbalize my thoughts my mind works fine , how I want to word things is hard at times. Why I pull back on making many comments I'm afraid they won't come out right.
