Sounds like the Government is just being a bully to this citizen.
Yes not paying your taxes is wrong. But the law is not enforced equally. And raiding this guys home and taking his property is unconstitutional not paying taxes is not cause for searching a person's home

(1,662 posts)Their rights violated because you disagree with their views?
Sovereignty of the individual is what this country was founded upon. That we are all kings and queens with equal rights and no Person has a right to tread on your rights and no Person has a right to tread on my rights.
Now we do agree to live in a constitutional republic when we live in this country and agree that the Government has the right to tax the citizens
But one could also argue that our taxes are being embezzled by corrupt crony politicians doing the bidding of the megawealthy and corporations. Hence not paying our taxes can be justified because they will be used for corrupt and deadly ends.

Is that merely an allegation, or can you provide specific and relevant judicial case law to support it?

(1,662 posts)We have the right to be secure from unreasonable search and seizure. Not paying ones taxes is not a reason for a search and seizure of ones property.

(10,201 posts)So it is not unreasonable. I'm assuming the law was followed, and a judge did sign the warrant for the search of the home and the property to be seized. However, upon searching the property illegal items were discovered (some of the firearms), the officers would be justified in seizing that other property as well.

(82,849 posts)Ministers do indeed have to pay taxes on their income, a fact that confounds many on the right and the left.
Mr. DeHaan will soon learn a lesson that the Bundy Bunch is currently getting schooled on.
