For how "bad" it's said to be here in WI, it's been worse before.

FAR worse.

I was talking to my elderly aunt, she lived in Madison from WW2 until the 1970's.

She said the right-wing McCarthy and his goons ruled Wisconsin, during the early 1950's.

ANY dissent was "communist."

During the mid to late 60's, radicals in Madison scared the buhjeebers out of people.

And in Milwaukee, the police force was nearly as bad as Daley's goon squads, under Harold Breier.

I grew up in Sheboygan county, around and in a small town called Howards Grove, where we were looked at as "interlopers" since our family didn't come from Howards Grove like the "old established families."

We'll muddle through like we always do.

but like recall elections everywhere have always been, it was a long shot from the beginning. And there was one notable success: the Senate is no longer controlled by Walker's goons; he won't be driving a steamroller any more. I'm originally from Milwaukee and I live next door in Minnesota. I visit Wisconsin almost every weekend to go boating, and there were many, many Barrett signs along the road I travel on those trips. The uphill battle of a recall was made almost insurmountable by the huge amount of money they spent. How do you overcome an 8:1 spending difference?

Wisconsin did good. It wasn't a failure, not really. This process probably helped build a great infrastructure for future elections. You patch yourself up and fight on.
