Just to drive him a little bit crazy, I took to referring to him as a short-fingered vulgarian in the pages of Spy magazine. That was more than a quarter of a century ago. To this day, I receive the occasional envelope from Trump. There is always a photo of himgenerally a tear sheet from a magazine. On all of them he has circled his hand in gold Sharpie in a valiant effort to highlight the length of his fingers.
Love the gold sharpie!

(5,813 posts)You can believe me, folks? And yes, his gestures drive me up a wall. The finger pointing, the circles and bending his index finger under. All nails on the blackboard for me. If you have heard one stump speech, you've heard them all. He memorized one ....or at least the talking points....and regurgitates it almost verbatim. Including the stock hand gestures. I am not sure I will make it to November.....

(72,790 posts)Every candidate has some kind of weird tick or mannerism. I think it's subconcious for most. I think most every human has it. Video tape yourself next time you speak.

(12,159 posts)Its not so surprising that Sanders and Trump should share some dialect features in common. They were both born in New York in the 1940s. Indeed, this "yuge" for huge substitution has been a recognized feature of the New York City dialect for a long time, but it doesnt only occur in New York. Its found in Philadelphia and here and there around the U.S., as well as in the Irish cities of Cork and Dublin.

It's like nails on a chalkboard to me.
