The Next Fight For Workers Will Be Michigan

Let's get on this! http://bloggingformichigan.com/2012/03/06/progressive-coalition-protect-our-jobs-pushes-michigan-constitutional-amendment-to-ban-right-to-work-laws/

A coalition of “front-line teachers, first responders, construction workers, and clergy” called “Protect Our Jobs” is holding a press conference this afternoon to kick-off a petition drive for a constitutional amendment to protect collective bargaining rights for Michigan workers. The purpose of the amendment is to enshrine into our state Constitution the basic right of every worker to collective bargaining.

-----------------------
Michigan residents are planning to submit signatures for a ballot initiative which would enshrine collective bargaining rights in our state constitution and repeal all current anti-union laws on the books. It would also enshrine certain workers protections as well as the right to a minimum wage in our constitution. This is huge and would effectively end the GOP's power to attack workers in this state.

1. The powers that fund politics want unions destroyed & public workers sent to the coal mines.

They want workers to pay for the bubble & bailout. Ergo, wages & benefits must be reduced so that capital can take a bigger share.

but they should drag that petition over there, to get something started on it here.

I thought that video was pretty good...nice and ominous sounding. I have family back there and I've sent it on to them, long time UAW folk who I know will sign and get out the word.

all of those bills that are sitting up in the legislature will be devastating to the working class if they are allowed to pass. I sent it on to three different families I know who live just outside of Flint and one in Battle Creek, to make sure that they are aware.
