He went on one of his long winded rants about a New York Times story on the construction of Mitt's mansion in California. It apparently was on the front page of the Homes section reporting that some of the neighbors are not too happy with it. Joe said the Times was hypocritical because they did not do such a report on the elitist life style of John Kerry.
Once Mika got to speak, she pointed out that Joe had previously said on air that Mitt should not be building such a place - with a car elevator - while running for office. Of course Joe kept interrupting her.
But the best part was when Willie found just such an article the Times did on the mansions owned by Kerry and his wife in October 2004.
Joe did not say much after that.
I just wish Mika would have slapped him.

Joe runs it like its a "Boy's Club" and he does everything he can to humiliate Mika. Then she gets most of the criticism for taking it - as if she has a choice. It's HIS show and he is a bully. He is capable of being reasonable, but somehow he just can't help himself.

(47,501 posts)is Joe knows that Mika will keep the show "on script" and will take the show to breaks or weather, so he just keeps talking like an undisciplined child. Mitt Romney's home in La Jolla, an enclave of San Diego.
By MICHAEL BARBARO
Published: June 6, 2012
Jae C. Hong/Associated Press
Mitt Romney bought a $12 million place in La Jolla in 2008.
ON Dunemere Drive, it seems as if just about everyone has a gripe against the owners of No. 311.
The elderly woman next door complains that her car is constantly boxed into her driveway. A few houses over, a gay couple grumbles that their beloved ocean views are in jeopardy. And down the street, a widow grouses that her childrens favorite dog-walking route has been disrupted.
Bellyaching over the arrival of an irritating new neighbor is a suburban cliché, as elemental to the life on Americas Wisteria Lanes as fastidiously edged lawns and Sunday afternoon barbecues.
But here in La Jolla, a wealthy coast-hugging enclave of San Diego, the ordinary resident at the end of the block is no ordinary neighbor.
He is Mitt Romney.

At right is his family's house in the Brittany resort town of St.-Briac-sur-Mer, where he spent summers as a child, providing a glimpse of a grander life than he had known back home.
Ruth Fremson/The New York Times
The Heinz-Kerry properties include two vacation homes, with this one, second left, just outside Nantucket, Mass. It was the site of the couples wedding in May 1995.
T.-BRIAC-SUR-MER, France, Oct. 4 - The estate that belonged to John Kerry's grandparents sits high on a bluff in this Brittany resort town, a massive stone house overlooking a stunning landscape of wind-tossed ocean and jagged headlands. Villagers still speak in awed tones about his grandmother, who was known for her generosity and her regal horseback rides along the hilltops.
It was here, on childhood summer visits with his cousins, that Mr. Kerry played on the beach and fished for octopus in the tidal pools. And it was here that the boy from Massachusetts glimpsed a much grander life than he had known back home, and began, perhaps, to acquire the sheen of privilege and sophistication that would become an inescapable part and a persistent liability of his life in politics.
"Look - the best view in all of northern France," said Ian Forbes, Mr. Kerry's maternal uncle, speaking in French, as he led a reporter to the back of the family house in St. Briac with its vast lawn stretching toward the sea.
Today, Mr. Kerry's life is defined against similarly grand settings. In winter, he goes helicopter skiing while staying at his wife's Idaho retreat, a 15th-century farmhouse transported from England and reassembled on the banks of the Big Wood River in Sun Valley. In summer, he windsurfs and sails off the coast of Nantucket, where she has another home. The couple have an 18th-century town house in Boston where the kitchen is two stories high. There is a 23-room town house in Washington, an 88-acre Pittsburgh area estate, a private Gulfstream jet and a personal staff of six, including caretakers and a cook.
If Mr. Kerry is elected, he and his wife will be the richest couple ever to live in the White House, said Kevin Phillips, a political commentator and the author of "Wealth and Democracy.''

(20,885 posts)Frankly, I'm no fan of his, and if Mika has a brain, I'd like her to show it more, but how would the eventual content change?
The news, or current events, or whatever get thrashed about. Their conflicts are our entertainment. They need a conservative anchor. Forget about finding one with a sense of humor or a turn of wit.
Joe's weakness is his loutish rudeness, but he's taken down a lot too. He's an asshole. But what makes good TV? (There's always C-SPAN.)
I credit Joe in one area. He is alone in following up on the consequences of automation. He knows that production increases while work decreases, and senses a conflict. He's questioned several guests on it. You can see that he can't think of a "free market" solution.
People watched Archie Bunker for years. And not because he was smart or pleasant. He bullied Edith and neutralized the kids with obstinacy. Show business!
