Republicans / conservatives already jumping ship hard:

The Mantra of #NeverTrump Shall Be This

After tonight’s stunning (or not so stunning) loss and Ted Cruz dropping out of the race, the question that I and others are being asked is will we unify behind the presumptive GOP nominee now that he is essentially inevitable?

...

Those who subscribe to the idea are saying that Trump is a dangerous, unpredictable man whose aspirations don’t align with conservatism. Whose morals are questionable at best. Whose relationship with the truth is not just tenuous, it’s borderline hostile.

#NeverTrump is not an endorsement of Hillary, it’s an acceptance that Hillary’s ascension is inevitable when the alternative is a wannabe despot.

The comment section is a gold mine. These people really, really don't like Trump.

Though George Will was talking about just that thing when he said they would have to scramble to attempt to "save" as many GOP offices as possible from the coming disaster.

it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures."

To them Trump is 'the enemy'. They would prefer a Democratic 'enemy' whom they can fight and blame.

... if a liberal is going to sit in the oval office, let us not take part in putting them there with our names on their support roster. Let us not let a man for 4 years get up on that bully pulpit and create a mistrust of conservatism that destroys the meager gains we've managed.

... Hillary would be more likely to face gridlock on liberal policies than Mr. Trump would.

The party is already destroyed simply by his nomination. #NeverTrump intends to at least salvage conservatism.

More of the gridlock that Obama has experienced if a Democrat is in the White House.

You are right. The comments are a hoot.

Reince Priebus was one of the first to say that Trump was the presumptive nominee. The establishment has a rotten egg, and they don't like it. They've effectively nominated a teabagger to run for President.

The Tea Party Republicans were a cancer to the Umpa Lumpa when he was in charge (had a hard time passing tax cuts to the wealthy). I don't see how a massive tumor as POTUS is beneficial to the establishment, especially since he's left of Attila the Hun on certain issues.

He has had several blistering articles over the last few days.

I like this one from the day before even better http://www.redstate.com/aglanon/2016/05/02/i-lied-to-myself-for-years

It is his Mea Culpa for standing idly by while people he considered allies said crazier and crazier things.

Here is the zinger

And so, as I said, I kept quiet about these allies in new media and in Washington. People who I thought I agreed with only 70% of the time. Which normally is a great reason to consider someone an ally, but not when the other 30% is cringe-inducing paranoia and vapid stupidity.

Welcome to reality. Better late than never.

And yes, the comments section is surprisingly on board with this. Of course they are a little delusional as to why they hate Trump but I will take what I can get.

The bottom line is this. It isn't good enough to shun Trump. They should be shunning Trump voters as well.

For the last 40 years isn't gonna do dick except piss off the proles MORE.

They built this monster, the only thing left to do is own it and let them live with the destruction it brings. To do otherwise is the height of intellectual dishonesty.

I say, let's MAKE them own it. No skating on their responsibilities THIS CYCLE. And when the idle and idiot rich bitch and cry cause their capital gains rate goes up to pay for Useful Public Things, let's remind them WHY there was no GOP powerbase to prevent it.

There are rumors swirling in OK that our governor, Mary Fallin, might get a shot. She is female and a right-wing loon. She could be good at getting back some women and the right-wing nutjobs who just loved them some Cruz. I suggest people look her up; she's fucking HORRIBLE!
