2. So far, it is an unsubstantiated claim...but it seems to fit in his "hijinks" lifestyle

13. Who cares if the claim is unsubstantiated?

That never stopped the repukes from repeating unsubstantiated claims about Democrats. They picked this fight, and I say let's pick it up and run with it.

6. Any speculation as to why he would do that?

I believe two witnesses have come forward. Have they proposed a reason for the dress-up? Apparently he did it more than once and he even did it at night and put a flashing light on top of his car. And I understand he did it alone and not as part of a fun-loving group just out for laughs.

Why would someone do this? To get the phone numbers of girls he stopped, like some real cops have been known to do? To derive pleasure from feeling powerful in intimidating others? That he would do this alone and not to share a laugh with friends and do it to derive some kind of private and personal satisfaction seems really weird to me and possibly mean he's mentally unstable.

That is actually illegal depending on context.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_impersonation
"Dressing up as a police officer in costume, or pretending to be a police officer for the purpose of play or a harmless prank toward an acquaintance is generally not considered a crime, provided that those involved recognize the imposter is not a real police officer, and the imposter is not trying to deceive those involved into thinking he/she is"

The heck is wrong with this guy?

12. Of course it would have been illegal if he was stopping and intimidating strangers, but I'm sure

the statute of limitations has run out and he most likely cannot be charged now, even if victims came forward and wanted to press charges.

This certainly is creepy behavior, if true, but I'm sure it's OK since he's a Republican. Just like the dog, the magic underwear, the forced haircut, etc., etc. are all JUUUUST fine, as long as you're a Pub.

9. This kinda reminds me of that one Stephen King novel....

where this guy had some psychic visions after being in a coma for 5 years, and he ends up having a series of visions that tell him that Stillson, the Presidential candidate, will end up destroying the world by initiating a nuclear war.....

If a Romney Presidency now would be bad......then I shudder to think what might have happened if Romney had run, and won, in 1988......

He probably did it just to mess with people, showing no empathy for their feelings.
