(30,404 posts)I attended a Fund Raiser last Summer for the First Lady.
The security to get in was organized but tight ( that is a good thing)
She was awesome.
As lovely in person and just so classy.
It was well worth the Ticket Price for an experience of a lifetime

(30,404 posts)I'm glad you thought to ask -- it was taken on April 20, 2010
He was on his way to speak at USC and our neighborhood is in the flight pattern to USC and downtown.
I'm not printer/computer Smart but I did manage to scan the photo
of the helicopter flying right over my house!
Can't see my house on the photo
The neighbor took the photo but now I have to figure out how to scan it into a post.

(30,404 posts)We are near the airport.
Two nights ago there were helicopters circling all around over the neighborhood.
We called the Sheriff and asked what the problem was ~ they said they were not aware of a problem.
Think they were doing a dry run.
I took a photo about two years ago when the President's helicopter was coming from the airport to go to a Speaking Engagement at USC.
Our entire neighborhood was waving and jumping up and down!
And..... When I was in DC for the exchange of power celebration - I saw another exciting moment in the sky ---It was GW making his final departure from the White House!
There were 6 of us jumping up and down and giving the finger to GW.
He may not have seen our farewell because he was probably drunk.

(8,492 posts)Okay...maybe "hate" is too strong a word. The least you could do is run down the street and tell him I said, "Hi".
That's what I get for living in Arizona.

(30,404 posts)They called back and said the streets were blocked in different places in the neighborhood and traffic was crazy but everyone was so excited.

I love Arizona.
I remember being there in the summer and looking up at the stars ~ the sky was so clear and the stars were so brilliant.
Wait Wut
(8,492 posts)Ugh. That's like going to Chicago in January.
Yes, it is beautiful. We have those funky electric blue skies here. I'm originally from Chicago, so stars had to be pretty damned bright to see them. I remember being up in the mountains here on my first nite in AZ. I told my kid's dad that there was a weird cloud in the sky. He laughed and said, "That's the Milky Way."
Living here is a different story. If some of the blue states would just cut a few of their Dems loose and get them to move here, it would be a happier place.

(39,343 posts)Some guy had written all kinds of nasty letters, so they had him staked out for a few days around the visit.
Say what you want about the hookers, the Secret Service was on the ball. I also trained with Capitol Police snipers, so I would never try anything fishy in DC.

(53,661 posts)Not laughing about the security. I wasn't sure if you were complaining about it, as some resent all of it.
I'm glad for the level of security. Now, more than ever. Thanks for sharing your work in this... I worry a lot about Obama in these different public places. We've lost too many good people.
And thanks for keeping Gore safe. The memory of the scenes outside the VP mansion in 2000 still bring a chill to me.

I selected goclark in 2004 because I was a great Wesley Clark supporter.
Now I have unoffically changed my name to goobama!
Thanks everyone for sharing my joy!!

(21,889 posts)I got stuck on the dreaded 405 freeway which they closed in both directions this morning for 30 minutes. Took me 1-1/2 hours to go door to door from home to work.
