Donating to political groups, ideas?

As you all are no doubt inundated with requests for donations, and as most of us do NOT have unlimited means to be able to donate to all groups, does anybody have some strong reasons, pro or con, for donating to certain groups?

Here's a bit about me:

I'm female.
I'm in education.
I live in Wisconsin.
I worry about the environment, issues affecting children and seniors.
I belong to the LWV, NOW, and ACLU.

So here are the groups that keep contacting me. If you have any strong recommendations for them, or strong reasons to say NO, I'd like to hear them. I appreciate your help.

Democratic Governors' Association: my question, were they all that helpful to us in WI?

DNC: not to thrilled with the remark "If we lose in WI there will be no repercussions"

DCCC
DSCC
Emily's List
League of Women Voters
NOW: I have supported them for a long time

Sierra Club

Progressives United: Russ Feingold's group

Whenever I think I have found a good balance, a good group to donate to, I then hear some counter ("oh, they made a secret deal with so and so" or "they're in bed with such-and such&quot

Maybe we need a forum here on vetting groups??

and also I was hoping that if anyone knew of any good reason NOT to support these groups, or if there were 'better bang for the buck' groups, I'd like to know about them.

Also, the Congressional Progressive Caucus has two donation groups. One is for educational and informational purposes, which is tax deductable. The other is for campaign contributions, which isnt.

And the ACLU is always a worthy cause.
