I don't have a daughter, so I have a question to parents on DU

was there a flood of penises in showers, bathrooms, and other such venues that your daughter was exposed to?

is this a phenomenon that i have missed?

was there a rash of transwomen displaying their junk to your children, that i totally do not know about?

Our grand daughters are 13 and 14 and don't appear to be having a problem.

Now there's some bathroom thing they are worried about.

Don't try to understand it. Really stupid things appeal to really stupid people.

I read that more Republican politicians have been arrested in bathrooms than trans gender people.

Which could also be a made-up thing. But I bet it's true.

I thought back to when my kids were young and no, there were never any problems. There were plenty of trans people in Atlanta, to be sure, and many used the women's rooms, but there were never any issues I can recall of concern to me or the kids.

Watching my young sons enter the men's restroom when some "family values" type dude with preacher hair was in there--now THAT was panic-inducing.

But the lawmakers don't seem overly concerned about the presence of vulvas in the men's room. Seems to be dick and balls in the women's room that's the problem. It is almost as if they are playing the same "think of the sanctity of our women" card the racists used to play to justify segregation...

When we tried to ratify the, Equal Rights Amendment, through the 50 states, to amend the constitution, a similar bathroom issue was employed. All public bathrooms were going to be unisex.

It was bullshit. It still is.

I can say categorically that I've never seen another person's genitals in any public bathroom I've ever used. I also don't believe that anyone has checked out mine, for what it's worth.

Certainly no one has put theirs on display in these bathrooms, so the very idea that could be a significant concern seems like standard Republican fetishism writ large.

Open communal showers can expose young people to mocking about their bodies, even if transgender people are not involved. They should be enclosed.
