If Romney ever pulled someone over...

This is a big "if," but IF it is demonstrated 100%, no wiggle room, that he actually ever put on a state police uniform and pulled anyone over then he cannot remain the Republican nominee.

That is "if." I. F.

We are talking about a very serious crime that people will take seriously. It is one of those crimes that is both serious, legally, and also universally associated in the public mind with being insane.

I am not predicting Romney will go down for this. It's hearsay. But if it gets to the point of Romney having to talk about why he did it, rather than whether, I can't see his candidacy being viable.

But, as with all such things, the ability of Republicans to overlook "youthful indiscretions" is great and any wiggle room is probably enough.

And while we are on the topic...

When I read about this story I automatically pictured the victims being young white women driving alone, because the crime is so associated with serial rapists, and that seemed to me who Mitt would get off on terrorizing. I also considered him pulling over men who reminded him of his father. So it took me longer than it probably should have to ask myself this question.

What race were the people he was pulling over? (If we were talking about George Allen the question would answer itself.)

What happens in the youth of a candidate is really not that important; Americans are forgiving and they don't particularly care if you played a prank dressed up like a cop, or did cocaine and smoke marijuana; they care about what you've done with your life.

Rmoney on the other hand, has been a vulture capitalist, fucked up Massachusetts while governor, and has no way to relate to the rest of America.

Let's focus on the real issues rather than what he did or did not do when he was a fucking kid.

so you can just cut with the "what he did as a kid" shit. IF he actually went around with a Michigan State Troopers uniform on and pulled people over, you can bet your butt he did it as an adult- and it does count.

If this is TRUE (I have no idea) then it is a better reason to vote against somebody as President than anything that happened at Bain.

Lot's of people know someone who did drugs or fathered a baby out of wedlock or cheated on a test.

Very few people know anyone who dressed up as a cop for the purpose of pulling people over, and of the few who do know someone like that also know that that person was the scariest, most fucked-up person they ever knew.

But I NEVER dressed up like a cop and pulled people over.

It's far more effective than talking about Bain and his time as MA governor. Making those arguments requires facts and figures, and will be rebutted with facts and figures from the Republicans, and requires an electorate willing to pay enough attention to understand who's figures are correct and what they mean.

On the other hand, "Mitt is really creepy" is very, very easy to get across to low-information voters.

and there may be voters for whom such a "prank" would make a difference.

How do cops in general feel about people impersonating them and pulling people over?
Do they think it's a funny prank?

drugs.

Also which of the two different kinds of behavior is more common, similar to other people's average behaviors, and which is pretty damned unusual and similar to what other more rare kinds of behaviors and what are those behaviors, e.g. psychotic behaviors, with the difference being pretty much a matter of degree.

Who did he stop?

Where did he stop them?

Were they women or men?

Did he ask for their ID or License?

What reason did he give for stopping them?

When did he conduct these stops, daytime or evening?

HOW MANY TIMES DID HE VENTURE OUT IMPERSONATING HIMSELF AS A COP? I imagine that after his first Cop-dress up Super-rush, he was embolden to repeat it once again? Why let a good cop uniform go to waste?

Oh, and BTW, couple such acts along with a serious bully assault on a gay student and you have a pattern of a real disturbed individual with issues.

I worked with a guy years ago who was arrested for that same thing. He had a badge, not a uniform, and was pulling people over, mostly young girls. Someone took the badge number and called the station. Cops take that very seriously, he was charged with impersonating an officer and a few other charges. I would think it would be worse with state police.

the account I read said he had the uniform laid out on his bed in his college dorm to show it off. If true, he did it in high school and wagged it to college with him. I've no idea if those accounts are true - if so, he's one weird puppy.

I totally believe he commandeered the high school "hair cut", and he was plenty old enough to know better. That was pure meanness and bullying.

Funny the reports from his neighbors surfaced just yesterday, reporting his complaints to the police about kids drinking and smoking on "his" beach at his new vacation home.

Jeez, all his life he's had to keep all this riff-raff under control!
