Washington claims the raids target militants but locals say that civilians are the majority of the victims of the attacks. The Pakistani public is outraged over the attacks.

(1,881 posts)I don't see any other way of getting those gophers out of the lawn. I can understand Pakistan's hesitation to go after the vermin, seeing how something like 70% of that country are Taliban/Al Qaeda friendly. Launching an assault on the extremists would likely lead to an armed uprising, and these guys got nukes. Not wise. Drone strikes are a necessary evil.

Al Qaeda is decimated. The Taliban are mainly interested in doing their thing locally.
All we are achieving is perpetual war.
