From the gates of Hell, a tear rolls down Scalia's cheek..."Cruz not interested in Supreme Court"

During his first week back on the Hill, Texas Senator Ted Cruz said he has no interest in becoming a Supreme Court justice -- now or in the future.

Some top Republicans had suggested Cruz as a possible option to fill Antonin Scalia's vacant seat were the party to win back the White House in November, but in an interview with Texas radio station WBAP on Friday Cruz said "That is not a desire of my heart."

Cruz told the station he "has had several opportunities in the past to go to the bench, and I certainly deeply respect the job that the justices do."

He added, "I am committed to the fight of ensuring that we have strong, principled constitutionalists on the court. But I believe that I can do a great more good fighting across the political spectrum."

I was born in Massachusetts...got it (and no one knows a "Masshole" like a native). I'll respect anyone's opinion about anything as their opinion, but no one can "educate" me when it comes to life, ethics, and behavior in Massachusetts. In 2016, I have a dozen or so friends from school who are now Facebook friends, and after not seeing them or communicating with them for decades after my move to California, it all comes back. Native Texans are Native Texans and Massholes are Massholes...for life.

Note: For anyone offended by the term "Massholes," no need for a jury alert...it's what we call each other...often. It's a badge of pride for the abrupt, rude, "f-you" behavior we grew up with. It's as real as rain.

From December 2013 to mid-February 2014, I lived in Texas...the only place in my life that I didn't come close to "getting." Understood the Bible Belt / Conservative overtones, but there was something else. If you've ever seen the DVD for the movie "Fargo," you might have also seen the featurette on there, "Minnesota Nice." It's a surface level etiquette / protocol that is drilled in from birth. It means that you get pleasantries, but they in no way reflect what the person is actually thinking / feeling about you or what they're going to do 30 seconds after you walk away. They're on script. It's the scene in Fargo where Jerry Lundegaard asks the waitress "How you doin" and she can't answer...he throws her off her script and gets silence and a scripted smile in response.

So after the first month or so in Texas, my feeling was that I was surrounded by a subtler and less authentic, a somewhat colder, version of "Minnesota Nice." Lots of "Yes sirs" and "Have a nice day sirs" but I went in like an outsider and left like one.

I don't disrespect Texas or anyone from there...on the contrary, I immediately connected with your "I'm a native Texan. I know my people" statement, but if there was ever a time in my life where I never understood the "big picture" in a complete way, if there was ever a time where I knew I was somewhere that was completely wrong for me, it was the two and a half months I lived in Texas. I literally had tears of joy rolling down my cheeks when I saw the "Welcome to New Mexico" sign on my way back to Nevada.

He doesn't want to be just 1 of 9, unknown by most Americans.

And he wants to be able to say whatever inflammatory bs he feels like at any time.

That's why the Senate was never his real aim.

The real money is in the presidency.

Even Purgatory is trying to find some legal loophole to get rid of him. The man is an ass no matter what astral plane he is on.

...and I find him equally fascinating and repellent...is his all-consuming state of denial.

Everything you said is spot-on, but he's making plans, including "getting back in the Presidential race if he sees a path to victory."

In one of the last primaries he was in, he was beaten...soundly...by Ben Carson, who had long dropped out, and "OTHER."

I think most of us would call it a day when "OTHER" beats us.
