Former Gov. Bill Weld (R-MA) top of VP list for Libertarian candidate

Former Gov. Bill Weld (R-MA) is being "seriously considered" as a vice presidential candidate on Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson's presidential ticket, Johnson's campaign confirmed today.

"For a former Governor and well known public figure, 'vetting' is not the operative word, nor necessary," Joe Hunter, a Johnson spokesman, told the Herald when asked if Weld was on Johnson's list of potential vice president picks. "But yes, Governor Weld is being seriously considered."

It's unclear, however, how much consideration Weld is giving a potential VP nod. Weld stated, via his law firm, that he is "traveling outside the country."
