Deschutes Sheriff’s Office seeks reimbursement for occupation costs (OR)

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office wants to have the money it spent while responding to the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Harney County reimbursed by the government.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office’s expenses total $169,505.06, according to records provided to The Bulletin by the county’s legal counsel last week in response to an April 28 records request. The bulk of those expenses are personnel costs.

Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies spent 1,790 hours of overtime responding to the 41-day occupation, according to county records ...

Wouldn't it be standard practice for a local law enforcement agency to be reimbursed for the costs of a situation like this?
