b) I always thought the immutable things were better suited to these protections. Things "born in"...

murdering or attempted murder of a law officer.

The only crime where this might justifiably apply, imo, would be an outright assassination of an officer - like the two police officers who were fatally shot while sitting in their car in Brooklyn a few years ago. Still, what difference would it make in the sentencing phase? Life in prison is life in prison.
