AUSTIN, TX (KXAN) Alamo Drafthouse founder, Tim League, is seeking input on the hot button issue of the moment, bathrooms and the genders able to use them.
He decided to scrap the approved bathroom for the new Mueller location which is currently under construction, and go back to the drawing board with Drafthouse Architect Richard Weiss.
Weve been thinking about what an inclusive commercial gender-neutral restroom design might look like so that these challenges are not even part of the dialogue, League said in a Facebook post.
....
The working draft, which was posted on Facebook, is one large bathroom with a section of urinals behind one door and individual stalls for seated toilets. League said he is considering a type of urinal both men and women can use. So, what does an all gender urinal look like?

(25,406 posts)Urinals are vastly more environmentally friendly than stalls, using a fraction of the water. I hope that women will approach this idea with an open mind.

(16,245 posts)I'm not using anything without locking doors on the stall. No communal anything. I don't want to see anyone and I don't want to see anyone. I'd rather not hear them either, but that's not possible. Because people are just gross and disgusting.
Public restrooms are, frankly, a necessary evil. But they are evil.
I'm horrified also at the recent attempt by trendy hotels to remove bathroom walls. Or make them see-through. Again, gross and no fucking way will I ever stay in such a place.

(20,629 posts)Lift up for a smaller flush (after urination), and push down for a higher volume flush (no explanation needed). Trader Joe's restrooms have these, which is where I first experienced one.

(20,629 posts)new restroom designs involve essentially a series of individual bathrooms with locking doors that may be used by anyone, and each one has both a urinal and a toilet.

(2,841 posts)just have a gender neutral/unisex section along with the male/female restrooms? I mean I don't care about the whole bathroom thing but there are many on both men/women that just would'nt be comfortable with such change.

(18,318 posts)Don't know anyone who did:. They issued death-rattle gurgles and foul odors from the dark (I figured out why the lights never worked). However, there were some rank & husky ligustrums in the ditch/creek area. If women were standing near them, you knew to wait your turn.

(22,336 posts)I so hate it when people text in a movie theater.
I love how she claims she was just using it as a flashlight, and then says she's texted in every theater in Austin. And that it's never bothered anyone, because in addition to being rude, she's a psychic.
