Colorado GOP Official Compares Obama To A Monkey
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Thursday, 5/26/2016 10:30 am
Linda Sorenson, chair of the Delta County, Colorado, Republican Party, posted a racist Facebook meme last week depicting President Obama as a monkey, according to Jason Salzman of the blog Big Media.
She reportedly told Salzman that she was only joking but doesnt care if people are offended by it.

They're not bothering to hide it anymore, are they?

(10,303 posts)Ms. Sorenson is wrong. That's George, aka "Dubya".
OK, reality check... what she said was offensive. What I said above is offensive. One does not simply liken any human being to a primate by using "is", i.e. "[person name] is a [primate]". However some people are amused at her statement and I bet someone might be amused at my statement. Apologies to Mr. Bush, btw.

(1,683 posts)I saw an awful lot of cartoons and photo shops relating to George Bush as the "chimperor".
It's as offensive to President Obama as it was to then President Bush Jr.

(22,037 posts)The racism, misogyny and hatred that have always percolated beneath the surface of the Republican Party has been brought into the open thanks to Donald Trump's lack of civility and dignity. He has made it acceptable for Republicans to pull back the veil on their ugliness and throw away their dog whistles so they can "tell it like it is."
This picture is so offensive and disrespectful. That Ms. Sorenson, an official in the Republican Party, thinks this is a joke and doesn't care that many people would be offended demonstrates her callousness and lack of simple manners. She should be shamed out of her position.

(18,470 posts)The Party of Personal Responsibility (®//etc) is now claiming it's not Sorenson's fault, that her FB page was hacked.
The photo, allegedly posted to the Facebook timeline for committee chairwoman Linda Sorenson, shows former President Ronald Reagan bottle-feeding the chimp in a movie still. The accompanying text says, Ill be damned Reagan used to babysit Obama.
This whole thing is a hoax. Someone got into the Facebook somehow, said Vic Ullrey, vice chairman of the committee. It was hacked and somebody got into it, definitely.
When asked why Sorenson was the specific target of the alleged hacking possibly a federal crime, if true Ullrey said, I have no idea, later adding, Just to damage the Republican Party, no doubt. Just to make us look bad,
