Couple hundred protesters left. They stop marching in the middle of a main road. Officers watch nearby.

Protesters march through downtown San Jose for an hour, targeting Trump supporters and evading officers.

That's close to a riot.

Not every authority will align with your preconception.
The video shows people throwing food/items at a nonviolent women and the pictures show people standing on top of property.
I believe in the law when it comes to violence and property.

(17,600 posts)"Egging" someone in the face is violent; it's assault.
Throwing stuff at people is violent.
Destroying property intentionally, is violent.
Are you okay with some or all of these things as part of protest? Do you put conditions on any of them being okay? (For example, breaking into a draft office, grabbing draft records and then burning them, might be different than randomly overturning a car and setting on fire on a public street.)

(8,311 posts)... I tend to agree.
Had someone actually managed to egg Trump, I would have laughed my ass off. Egging his supporters isn't going to make them vote Democratic.

(8,311 posts)I'm not an expert, but although my training from the National Lawyers Guild in 2003 as a legal observer for protests has lapsed and I would want to retrain before wearing the green hat and vest again, I was involved in the 2003 Iraq War protests in NYC and one of the ones standing outside 1PP waiting for all the people they illegally arrested on April 7 to be released.
The effect of any protest is measured by the press it generates. We won a lawsuit against the NYPD, but it was the Oakland protests that got press that day because of the poor girl hit by the wooden bullet in the jaw and her picture everywhere.
We need press of Trump.supporters egging the protesters, not the other way around.

They have a Fascist mindset. I can see not liking Trump, but physically attacking people for supporting a candidate is reminiscent of Fascist thugs throughout history.

I don't like Trump one bit, but this is completely wrong. If you don't like a candidate show them in the voting both in November not with Violence.
When we start subjecting violence into politics we are heading down a very slippery slope.
The people that are protesting fascism are responding with the same thing. We have a political process for a reason let it play out !
