And Omar Mateen - If, IF he was trying to keep the gay away, then murdering gays and dying in a blaze of gunfire was the ultimate way to go. His conservative view of Islam, which forbids both outright suicide and homosexuality, conflicted with how he felt. I think it's possible that he was trying to stalk gay men to kill them on an individual basis.
