There will be no Trump pivot significant enough for him to win the election. Oh there may be spells in which he pretends to float above the swirling vortex of his madness, but he will always be trotting out new conspiracy theories punctuated with his insane narcissism. The electorate will bolt.
If you don't think so, ask yourself this question: Could Alex Jones pivot? Could David Duke pivot? Etc.
Like these, Trump is obsessed. (He's obsessed with himself and his cheap cartoon way of seeing the world.)

(22,165 posts)1. I would put more faith into a David Duke pivot ....
.... than a Donald tRump one (i have almost zero belief in the possibility of a Duke pivot, but its still higher than tRump pivoting)

(19,359 posts)2. But Duke did pivot, if you call
a directional difference of maybe 2 degrees a pivot, going from the overt, militant racism of the KKK, to the slightly veiled "Civil rights for white folk" racism of his running-for-Louisiana-governor stage which he has now parlayed into his current "Equal rights for all" stage (but if you scratch his surface, he'll start blabbing about white oppression).
So, you're right. Maybe it's not even a pivot but a matter of veils.

Apparently he has an unlimited supply of Mulligans in his pocket.
