Attorneys for former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson were contacted by 10 women in the wake of their lawsuit against the networks CEO, Roger Ailes, CNNs Brian Stelter reported on Wednesday afternoon.
I just spoke with one of the attorneys involved in Carlsons suit, Stelter said in video posted by Media Matters, adding that the women reached out because they say they also have stories to share about treatment by Roger Ailes.
Stelter did point out that the women have not joined the lawsuit filed by Carlson on Wednesday.
Carlson said in her lawsuit that she was fired in response to both denying Ailes sexual overtures and objecting to what she called severe and pervasive harassment during her 11-year career working for the conservative news network. Stelter pointed out that neither Fox nor Ailes have commented on the suit, and that the network has not covered Carlsons allegations.

But I say, the more, the merrier. Ailes sounds like he deserves it.

I admire her for putting up with it as long as she did, and she's right to sue over being canned for turning down that pig.

(13,616 posts)I know some my want to take the high road, but frankly, if you are not feeling some joy about this, you have no soul. I do feel sorry for Carlson, as anyone who is the victim of sexual harassment is, yes THE VICTIM, repeat, the VICTIM. We must be careful NOT to do what the right wing does to Victims; I am sure the folks at you know where have a firing squad of trolls ready to sl*t shame her.
However, it is funny when the people who polish their halos so much, who are the first to demonize, brutalize and scrutinize, are shown for having feet of cheap clay. Dare I say, I hope Rachel Maddow is on the phones, or for that matter, Hillary herself, because there is no better way to show exactly WHY we need Fox and their compatriots to go down in flames, sans any dignity.

(48,955 posts)kudos for finally acting/speaking, Gretchen.
Hard story to be sympathetic - because for years victims of such abuse have been belittled/dismissed on this network, and in the broader network of RW media. But at the same time - I can't condone what you have endured - regardless of your role in, by participating in the discussions, perpetuating such awful behavior.
That is - I support your action, and recognize that acting publicly against such a large financial force (Behind Ailes are the Murdocks), and appreciate the courage to act. But while I appreciate your courage, I also recognize how hard it is for me to do so - as I recognize how high a public profile for years you have had at this influential network that so often (even on the shows on which you appeared) reinforced the attitudes towards women that allowed for the same sort of awful behavior against female employees, relatives and (sadly) mates.
