“The driver looks more like one of our suspects, just ‘cause of the wide set nose,” the officer cont

That is the reason the cop gives when telling Dispatch that he is going to pull

Castile over. (They have the recording transcript.)

http://photographyisnotacrime.com/2016/07/08/minnesota-cop-pulled-philando-castile-wide-set-nose/

Here is the transcript from the recording, posted on KARE 11:

“I’m going to stop a car,” the officer says on the recording. “I’m going to check IDs. I have reason to pull it over.”

“The two occupants just look like people that were involved in a robbery,” the officer says. “The driver looks more like one of our suspects, just ‘cause of the wide set nose,” the officer continues.

A minute and a half later, the recording captures the first report that there was a shooting.

Officer: “Shots fired Larpenteur and Fry.”
Dispatch: “Copy you just heard it? … You just heard the shots fired?”
Officer: (screaming) “Code 3! Shots fired.”
Dispatch: “Copy shots fired Larpenteur and Fry. Do you need medics?”
Officer: “Code 3!”
Dispatch: “Copy. Medics — code 3 to Larpenteur and Fry.”
Officer: “One adult female taken into custody. Driver at gunpoint.”

One and a half minutes later Castile was dead.

It was murder.

Castile did however have shoulder length dreads and short facial hair, identical to an individual who committed an armed robbery just down the street from where the traffic stop occurred, four days prior. While that in no way excuses his shooting, if the cop involved was aware of the description of the armed robber, it does provide some insight into why he might be extra nervous and trigger happy when approaching Castiles vehicle.

I doubt the cops intention was simply to murder a black man, I'm guessing that he screwed up either due to incompetence, nerves or some other reason, as evidenced by his reaction on the video after the shooting, he knew he had fucked up big time, he didn't sound like a calm, cool collected murderer who had accomplished his goal of executing a POC.

He will likely be convicted of negligent homicide, I doubt there will be any premeditation proved, unless something else comes to light.

armed robber, it does provide some insight into why he might be extra nervous and trigger happy when approaching Castiles vehicle."

I'm just spitballing here, but if the cop involved was aware of the description of the armed robber, it's much more likely he would have cited the locs and facial hair than the "wide-set nose" as a reason to pursue.

Maybe, maybe not. I would be surprised if the descriptions of the two guys involved in the armed robbery that occurred just down the street had not been given to cops on patrol in that area. What he told the dispatcher may have been in addition to other characteristics he observed in the driver of the car. Again, it's not an excuse, shooting a guy just because his description is similar to a robbery suspect is obviously not ok but human nature being what it is, it my also provide some sort of explanation as to why the patrolman acted as he did.

The first being a black male, with longer than shoulder length dreadlocks hair, wearing blue jeans, a green plaid long sleeved shirt, a baseball hat with marijuana leave emblems on it, dark colored shoes with white in them, and wearing glasses. Suspect may have had a mustache.

-The second being a black male, in tan pants, tan shoes with white soles, a green long sleeved jacket, a green baseball hat, and shoulder length dreadlocks hair. Some of the dreadlocks had been pulled into a bun and were pulled through the snap on the back of the baseball hat. He was also wearing glasses, had a small mustache and some facial hair on his chin.

There were also pictures accompanying the descriptions, whether either of the suspects had what could be considered a "wide" nose would be subject to personal opinion.

You would agree that there is a fairly close physical resemblance between Mr. Castile and one of the robbery suspects, wouldn't you?

That was the APB? Two black guys, one may or may not have had a mustache, and both had dreads to their shoulders?

The clothes are irrelevant, because the robbery was four days before. The only thing we KNOW the cop was suspicious about was a black woman with a stereotypically African-American nose.

You honestly can't see how both the description and acting on that description show racial bias?

show racial bias. I absolutely do think it does show racial bias. The one thing the cop said he was using for a justification for the pull over -- the "wide-set nose" -- wasn't in the original descriptions and is of course another generic black stereotypical trait.
