Taiwanese singer A-Mei donates $84,000 to typhoon-hit hometown

Asian pop diva A-Mei, or Zhang Hui Mei pledged to donate NT$2mil (S$84,000) to the Taitung County government to help with reconstruction works after a powerful typhoon hit her hometown Taitung, reported Oriental Daily.

She wrote on her Facebook page that her hometown was damaged by the storm and would need assistance.

A-mei, who was in Mongolia for a performance at the time, decided to clear her schedule upon her return to Taiwan to visit her relatives and friends in Taitung.
