(28,394 posts)So he could have been washed up anyhow. By running for VP, he will likely be the "heir apparent" four years from now, if he doesn't humiliate himself too badly.

(48,955 posts)he blew those hopes up with his awful closed doors signing of an awful RFRA law. National ignorance on display.
Gone from "I could be the next Pres" to "I could lose reelection" and as you state, now to "I could be the next, next Pres" overnight. Glee in the hoosier state (take our gov. PLEASE).
Now its the Dumb and Dumber presidential campaign!

(58,662 posts)if he doesn't know by now, will he ever learn? Probably not until he runs off the cliff. At least Indiana should be thankful, since he has to give up the governor's seat to run.

It's like taking a worn tire off of your daily driver and putting it in the trunk of the shit-box that's on blocks in your front lawn. Now they've "promoted" Pence to a harmless position, while the Indiana Republican Party desperately tries to contain the damage he's already done there.
Confederate General James Longstreet once wryly observed that by moving an incompetent commander from a good unit and placing him in a notoriously bad one, the efficiency of both units was markedly improved. That's what the spiritual inheritors of the Confederacy have done here: improved two failing campaigns though the transfer of an incompetent leader.
