War on Cops?

I decided to take a look at some stats concerning the death of police officers by deliberate homicide. They were a little shocking even though I kind of knew what the end result were be.

Here's what I got from the information available here:

Police deaths by EOW (Date Of Death):



Police deaths by race of killer:



There are certain caveats to this data:
1) Reliability of the database
2) Injuries not resulting in death aren't included
3) Stabbings weren't included because there were no officer deaths by stabbing for 2015 or 2016
4) I manually looked up the name of the perpetrator and used pictures to determine race (that lends itself to error)
5) K9 officer deaths weren't included.


Still, why didn't "Blue Lives Matter" when from 1/17 - 2/24 9 out of 10 of the shooters were white?

Even if you include the multiple murders in the Dallas shootings, there is still a huge disparity between white and black shooters: 9:16

I'd thought about writing a couple scripts to automate pulling the data from the DB into a CSV to be imported into Calc, but have been kind of busy. I have a feeling I know what the extended data would show as well.

To me, this shows the inherent bias in not just reporting but the attitudes of dismissal that are prevalent.
