distinguishes it from an actual Fender strat headstock.

Much like any cheap knock off.

for producing knockoff Gibson and Fender clones for cheap prices and had to radically change headstock designs after that. So 80s I guess. Interestingly the "pre lawsuit" Ibanez copies were excellent quality and are collectors items now.

Anyway that's how I know Fender owns a patent for headstock shape and I am sure that is why the one on the poster is styled like a mandolin or something.

Interestingly they don't own patents on body shapes!

They had the pattern build right into the CAD system at my HS. We could just print them off and and start cutting.

I've got 15 years on ya.

I guess wood shop lasted into the 80s lol. I'm sure it's gone now.

The good thing about being an old man with a day job is you can afford any guitar you want.

The sad part is all the guys you played with start dying.

I just checked, and my old school district still offers wood, metal, drafting and auto shop courses.

My electives were wood shop, auto, and drama throughout high school. They still offer them all.
