Trumps double unraveling; conservatives infiltrate his inner circle - Melania's passage was plantedBy Georgeortega

Some pundits have speculated that Trumps less-than-professional campaign staff is to blame for not having caught the plagiarized passage. But such a take on the matter misses the larger point by a mile. This point is that the unidentified person who wrote Melanias speech deliberately included the damning passage.
We can be relatively confident in this assessment because other more laudable, unstolen passages of Melanias speech reveal that its author is by no means a complete newbie to speech-writing. We can strengthen our confidence in this by reminding ourselves that even a high school student knows what plagiarism is, and how to easily avoid it.
So, let me say it again. The person who wrote the plagiarized passage knew what he or she was doing while penning it, and while giving it to Melania. Who would do such an underhanded thing? In pondering this, keep in mind how much of an embarrassment Donald Trump is to the Conservative Party. Also keep in mind that many conservatives are quite reasonably terrified of Trump winning the presidency. They are terrified that a Trump presidency will spell the end of the modern conservative movement. So, as insurance against failing to unseat Trump at the convention, one or more conservatives infiltrated Trumps campaign with the single-minded aim of sabotaging his chances of winning. We all know what conservatives are capable of. As we move into the last four months of the campaign, trusting that his people truly are his people will now be quite a problem for Trump. But thats not his only problem.
Melania lied when she said she wrote the speech. Its not like its possible that she lied, or that she may have lied. She very obviously lied. And now, in order to defend her honor, her husband, who knows far better than anyone else that his wife did not write that speech, has very obviously lied. Trump had been hoping that media reporting on the Republican Convention would focus on Hillarys trustworthiness. But now that hope is forever dashed. Most people will not believe someone who has been so red-handedly caught in a lie, especially when that someone is running for president of the United States. And these same people will conclude that the last thing our country needs right now is a pathetically transparent liar who is also not smart enough to prevent conservative saboteurs from infiltrating his inner circle, and destroying his campaign.

(21,854 posts)It's much more likely that Melania had no idea of what she should say and someone gave her Mrs. Obama's speech as a sample.
Melania just copied and pasted because she was running out of time.

Such staggering bad judgement has only one precedent, choosing tRump for a husband.

BUT..
Perhaps their producers warned them "DO NOT TRASH MELANIA"
Perhaps they were warned that if they do it would give Trump the instant fuel he was looking for to gain sympathy.

(12,504 posts)At some point Trump was sure to try and lay all the blame for the debacle at the feet of the LW media.
That would be something very difficult for Trump to do now without some plausibility. Clearly news evolves and changes as new info is released. The Pundits know this and can always claim they were noble and justified in giving Melania the benefit of the doubt.

(10,857 posts)The speechwriter was tapped and, knowing that the Trumps never pay for work performed, the person wrote plagiarism and a Rick-roll into the first draft, with the promise that a final draft would be delivered upon payment.
The Trumps didn't pay, and got Rick-rolled for it.

If a company or worker he hires isnt paid fully, the Trumps said, its because The Trump Organization was unhappy with the work.

Especially the press - who are giving a proven liar way too much leeway.

(44,577 posts)and I am NOT talking about the skin condition.
There are two sets of guilty parties here: whoever put those passages in the speech, and whoever was supposed to vet it. If Duh Donald has been unable to figure out who those people are -- and in defense of his own wife -- his application for the position of leader and commander-in-chief of the free world should be rejected with all deliberate speed. Oh, and I'm still waiting on his tax returns, too!

(21,631 posts)She comes out in front of the world and says she wrote for herself this impassioned endorsement of her husband to be President. all by herself, from her heart.
Now we know portions were plagiarized.
So either Melania admits she stole her speech from Michelle Obama, or she has to throw someone else under the bus. and if she does that, she's admitting that her "from the heart" endorsement was nothing more than words put on a screen for her by a pro speechwriter, which is in fact WAY worse than admitting you simply stole a few sentences, because it negates any believability in what she said about Don the Con..
No win scenario!
