Ground Game Ground Game Ground Game

All this talk of Kaine and Vilsack ends with winning VA or IA. And those are good things.

But to have a ground game EVERYWHERE, you need troops who are fired up. Those are Democratic base voters, Bernie Sanders voters, and non aligned liberals.

That makes Tom Perez, and even more, Elizabeth Warren, the better veep choices.

Ground Game Ground Game Ground Game

The old fashioned way. Walking precincts. Knocking on doors. Phone banking. Driving people to the polls. Registering voters. All the old fashioned things to actually bring a voter to the place where live votes are cast for real.

Accomplishing that requires an army of people, fired up and ready to do what it takes.

I hope the veep pick does that.

The campaign of Hillary knows very well how to work the electoral map. The primaries were a warm-up tonyt53 Jul 2016 #5

if the logistics of the convention are any indication of his attention to detail and nuts and bolts.

If a "non-aligned liberal" votes for anybody but someone that can win the election, then that person really doesn't have much to lose by a Trump presidency. Either they are dirt poor or have some financial substance.

It is about all the manpower needed to mount a huge ground game.

There are low information voters on our side, too.

Last night during Trump's speech I was posting results from yesterday's phone banking into votebuilder. I could care less who is picked for VP.

How does he fare on the campaign trail? Can he fire them up? And how would he do on debates?

All the VP angst is over blown IMHO. It's never been a key issue in any election, unless it is negative like Caribou Barbie was, but McCain was almost as bad a candidate as Trump is. Positives? Like you said, it might help pick up a given state, but even that is hardly infallible.

Demographics are on our side. Milk that and keep the millenials involved, especially keep them involved in ways that keep them interested through the mid-terms, and it'll be a cake walk.

But yeah, GOTV! Hillary already has a YUGE ground game advantage over Trump. He has been putting his campaign together in the last 5-6 weeks, Hillary has been working on hers, with party support, for years. Trump can't even claim full on party support.
