MUNICH A gunman carried out a shooting rampage Friday in a busy shopping area of Munich, killing at least nine people and wounding 21 others in an act of suspected terrorism before he committed suicide, police said early Saturday.
The rampage prompted authorities to lock down the southern German city and launch a massive manhunt for suspected perpetrators. Police later determined that the attack at Munichs Olympia shopping complex was apparently carried out by a lone gunman and that he committed suicide about half a mile away.

How about German terrorism?
Remember the terror in Germany in the 1960's and 1970's?

(5,739 posts)The last 20 times this has happened it has been the same damn thing.
If I could win at cards as many times I was right about this sort of thing by "jumping to conclusions" I'd have something better to do than post on here.

Now, let us "wait for facts" again?
You guys gotta all get on the same page. One of these days you'll be right.

Then agan, 9% or so Sunni.
Not necessary for the child of two Shi'ites to stay Shi'ite.
Then again, we have two witnesses, of dubious quality. One said the shooter was German and insulted Turks. If he was born and raised in Germany, he's fluent. Not all Germans are blue-eyed; not all Iranians are really dark skinned. The other said he shouted the infamous "Allahu akbar" mantra.
If the shooter were a Twelver Shi'ite, perhaps he was gunning for Sunni Turks for their attitude towards Assad. Hey, even the most unlikely contradictory remarks can somehow be made consistent.
Then again, we know very little, and given very little speculation is cheap and easy.

I am very familiar with Iran, I used to live there.
No one will care, though, if this person was Kurdish, with separatist issues, or a minority Sunni, or opposed to Sunnis or having some other issue, religious, nationalist, maybe even having nothing at all to do with Iran.
All they will care about is that is he was from Iran, because that will somehow "prove" something.
This is a bad day for Persians around the world; when one guy sticks up and makes everyone else look bad.

And, of course, Hezbollah has strong Iranian ties.
