Yes, the ruling sucks, but there is still a way to restore these ex-felons voting rights, cumbersome as it may be.
I hope McAuliffe doesn't get carpal-tunnel syndrome with all the signing he's going to do.

The men and women whose voting rights were restored by my executive action should not be alarmed. I will expeditiously sign nearly 13,000 individual orders to restore the fundamental rights of the citizens who have had their rights restored and registered to vote. And I will continue to sign orders until I have completed restoration for all 200,000 Virginians. My faith remains strong in all of our citizens to choose their leaders, and I am prepared to back up that faith with my executive pen. The struggle for civil rights has always been a long and difficult one, but the fight goes on. - See more at: https://governor.virginia.gov/newsroom/newsarticle?articleId=16047#sthash.87uY1y8U.Cud78vLE.dpuf

(335 posts)It's rare that when a politician with a centrist background put on progressive clothing for votes, that I'm not disappointed by them.
So it's been great to watch McAuliffe 'do the right thing' again and again - I didn't expect much and it's great to see.
