As an atheist I have always given a nod of respect to the Jesuists of today.

They seem to be more inclined to carry on the "teachings of Christ" than most others. Certainly the Evangelicals in that Kaine walked the walk. Great Veep choice, Hil.

Both Tim Kaine and Martin O'Malley were educated by Jesuits, and they were both imbued with the principles of liberal social justice. The history of the Jesuits and their relationship and conflicts with orthodox Catholicism are a very interesting read. I have been privileged to have known a number of very remarkable Jesuits.

They walk the walk here. In 40 years of nursing, I'm glad I wound here to end my career after working for some sleazy outfits, like the Rick Scott scam of healthcare.

Over time, I realized I could not be part of an institution that hated me. I thought of the anti-gay legislation in countries like Uganda and Russia. I didn’t want to be part of an organization with similar policies, where LGBT Catholics are fired for loving their partners, for being the selves God created, the selves God delights in.

I’ve since left the priesthood and have pursued a different religious life with the Episcopal church.

But I am not the only victim. LGBTQ Roman Catholics are being fired from employment, simply because of their sexuality.

That's walking a walk, but not one I can support.

proud of their social justice message, but I have just started to learn about the fact that they were big old slave traders and a lot of their wealth came from slavery.

I can't tell you how disgusted and disappointed I am.
