she needs to move toward the anti-establishment

Hillary doesn’t get it: She doesn’t need to move toward the middle — she needs to move toward the anti-establishment

By Robert Reich

Does Hillary Clinton understand that the biggest divide in American politics is no longer between the right and the left, but between the anti-establishment and the establishment?

I worry she doesn’t — at least not yet.

A Democratic operative I’ve known since the Bill Clinton administration told me “now that she’s won the nomination, Hillary is moving to the middle. She’s going after moderate swing voters.”

Presumably that’s why she tapped Tim Kaine to be her vice president. Kaine is as vanilla middle as you can get.

Just because you agree with people, and they happen to be loud, doesn't make them the majority.

The facts are that the majority of Democrats didn't vote for Bernie. The majority of Republicans didn't vote for Trump. Those voices are the loudest, but they are not the majority. The majority is still in the center, relative to the two of them.

"success." When did we starting keeping the bar so low? One her campaign discovered that BLM wasn't going away and that she needed them, she adjusted her attitude and demeanor toward them. Why is it so impossible to not show disdain for people who know that partisan, binary thinking is not working because there is too much overlap when it comes to money in politics and disregarding economic inequality.
Moron: anyone who criticizes our candidate for president
I thought that kind of demand for unconditional loyalty was reserved for fraternities and sororities (the most juvenile of US traditions) and republicans.

(who don't get it) posting negative and rude replies about R. Reich again, as to my post.

I'm with you for posting, Chimichurri, and with R. Reich for observing as he does.

She'll fall over the cliff. Triangulation isn't going to work this time around.

If you believed her to be center right a move to the middle would be a move leftward you would actually applaud. Your wording betrays your real recognition that she remains left of center despite the posing vitriol.

Unlike Trump, she is pragmatic. As she has shown, with support, she can do great things. But without us pointing out her record, she would stay in her bubble. That's not hyperbole, it's just true.

Just look how she moved on minimum wage
